The
World Affairs Council of Jacksonville kicked off the 2011-2012 season of their
Distinguished Voice Series on Monday, Sept. 26 with Deputy National Security Advisor for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, John O. Brennan. Before the lecture members of the World Affairs Council attended a VIP reception at the
University Center for food, drinks and a brief speech by Brennan.
In Any Event last catered this reception for the
year-end event in April, and the guests enjoyed the action station with Cajun seared scallops so much that September's reception also included an action station. This month we carved smoked brisket for guests and served it to them on a mini wheat roll with an apricot chipotle barbecue sauce. Opposite the action station were buffet-served appetizers. Every World Affairs Council reception features our gourmet fruit and cheese platters with a selection of baked stuffed brie, and we also served mini grilled polenta cakes topped with smoked fontina and leeks, an item our executive chef Paul Rich jokingly referred to as "gourmet peasant food."
For more photos from this event, see the
album on Facebook. And stay tuned for details from this month's World Affairs VIP reception!
